Yul Moldauer
Oklahoma men’s gymnastics sophomore Yul Moldauer headlined a spectacular finals for the Sooners at the 2017 Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nev., on Saturday night. Moldauer won the all-around competition with a two-day combined score of 171.750, becoming the first Sooner to win the event since two-time Olympian Jake Dalton did so in 2011. In addition to his all-around crown, Moldauer also won the event titles on rings (30.100) and parallel bars (29.300). He also placed second on floor (29.650) and vault (29.450). Moldauer finished fifth in the all-around a year ago, earning a place on the 2016 U.S. Senior Men’s National team.

* Recorded four top-six finishes at the Winter Cup in Las Vegas
* The Academic All-Big Ten honoree took third on parallel bars (28.000), fourth on the still rings (29.250), tied for fifth on high bar (26.950) and tied for sixth on floor (28.150)
* Collects his eighth Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award

Freshman of the Week
Favian Valdez - Penn State
* Finished 19th in the all-around, registering a combined score of 155.300 at the Winter Cup in Las Vegas
* Took 17th on parallel bars (26.150), 19th on pommel horse (26.050), 25th on floor (25.850), 28th on still rings (25.800) and 31st on high bar (23.650)
* Earns his fourth Freshman of the Week award

Akash Modi - Stanford
Stanford senior Akash Modi (Morganville, NJ) placed second all-around at the Las Vegas Winter Cup for the second straight year, with a combined overall score of 171.050. He had a field-leading score of 86.300 in the preliminary round (Feb. 16), which he followed with an 84.740 in the finals. Modi finished second on parallel bars (29.100), second on high bar (27.859), third on floor (28.650), tied for fifth on vault (28.900), eighth on pommel horse (28.300) and eighth on rings (28.250). This is Modi’s third MPSF weekly award this year, and 13th of his career.
